29/11/08 - 20th Annual Luton Kingfisher Diving Invitational event , Lottie Thompson, 16yrs, made the 3m and 1m finals in good style and found herself diving against Olympian Stacie Powell and GB Senior Louise Vanderhoof from Southampton, plus a host of other British wannabees! On the 3m springboard Lottie performed some great dives to take the Bronze medal with Clubmate Jenny Haines 15yrs, in 4th spot. On the 1m both girls were against the veteran Stacie who took the title, but this time Jenny showed greater consistency to get in front of Lottie and take 4th spot with Lottie in 5th. Jake Gardiner, 13yrs, found himself up against British Diving’s super young star and Olympic hope 14 yr old Thomas Daley from Plymouth - and did himself proud. Not phased by the competition or the more experienced divers he focused well and performed his dives with good form. Jake made the finals, and finally finished in 6th spot in a field of 12. 18/11/08 - ENGLISH SCHOOLS DIVING CHAMPION 2007 - Lottie Thompson won the Senior Girls event at the English Schools Diving Championships held in Plymouth at the weekend. Lottie’s exciting somersaulting skills and improved consistency on her harder dives kept her moving slightly further ahead in each round despite some really strong challenges – particularly from home based diver Jessica Taylor. Lottie finally finished almost 20 points ahead of her nearest rivals with an excellent score of 295.85 points. In the Intermediate Girls event, Ellie Osborne dived very consistently and, despite lacking a little difficulty in her list of dives, finished in an excellent 4th place earning valuable points for the Div 8 Team who finally finished 3rd - just behind Divisions 10 & 3. 20/9/08 - Bill Clark, our Head Diving Coach, was awarded the Jeff Cook Salver for his outstanding service to Diving in the East Region. Bill has been the East Region Diving Manager for 2 years now, sits on the ASA Technical Diving Committee, and is a current GB Diving Coach.

Southend Divers Chloe Bastow, Kieran Judd, Lizzi Welsh, Alister McCrae pictured with Pete Waterfield and his Olympic silver and Commonwealth Gold diving medals. The 4 divers competed at Southampton in the Pete Waterfield Novice competition on 3rd October 2009 which gives young divers the opportunity to gain a place in the National Skills finals for the coming year. Chloe and Lizzi competed in the Group C girls competition with both achieving National Qualifying Scores. Lizzi also achieved a personal best score which got her 3rd place. Alister competed in the group C boys and dived extremely well to get a personal best which was only 2 points outside the National Qualifying score. Kieran put in a solid performance in the Group D boys and then went on to show his fearless nature and love of heights by testing out their 10m board. All 4 divers took the opportunity to jump from the 10m board - no mean feat, and now can’t wait for the new pool in Southend to open. Results of the East Region and partnership platform event are now on the Results page where Lottie Thompson won the Ladies event, Jenny Haines won the level 4 girls event and together gained silver in the senior synchro event.
