Every year the club has to re-negotiate the water time it hires from Creating Leisure and the Council. We take this opportunity each year to review & restructure our water time against the A.S.A recommended requirements for swimmers at each standard. We have made a few small changes this year including the introduction of a Rookie squad and some changes to the group names. We have tried as far as possible to keep the session times the same as 2006. There will be a new fee for the Rookie squad however, thanks to excellent work done by the committee; all other fees will stay the same as 2006.

Development (widths): Development groups have been given numbers to make it easier for the parents and swimmers to identify their group. Group 1 (Helen's group), Group 2 (Vicki & Maggie's group) and Group 3 (Jenni's Group). Times will continue as 2006. Swimmers stay in development until they have reached the standard of level 1 0 of the ASA National teaching plan.

Juniors: will swim in lane 1 on Monday and Friday evening. Eastwood sessions will continue as 2006. Peter Evans will be the junior development coach. Early morning training is open to any junior swimmer who is prepared to work hard and would like to be considered for the Rookie squad in the future: Please speak to Peter Evans for more details. Older swimmers in the junior group who have declined a place in the Rookie squad and any older swimmers who are not involved in competitive swimming will be moved to the more appropriate swim fit groups. Total weekly junior time will be 3 hours plus early morning training.

Rookie Squad: initial selection letters have been issued. Maggie Boddy will be the Rookie squad development coach and swimmers will be in lane 6 alongside Helen Lawton and the Performance squad. Swimmers are selected on their age re ASA competition laws (Le. in their 9th year to compete) and ability to compete at County level as well as attitude and commitment. The Rookie squad criteria will be a minimum three sessions attended every week including one early morning. The aim of the squad is to fully prepare the younger 1997 and 1996 born swimmers for the County events in 2007 as well as bring the slightly older swimmers up to the standard of the performance squad. Rookie squad members will have the opportunity to attend the Club training camp during the Easter holidays (please see fixtures list for date). Weekly time 5 hours plus mornings.

Performance Squad: will have 4 lanes on both Monday and Friday evenings to accommodate the different training needs of the swimmers. The performance squad will be attending a training camp at Crystal Palace during the Easter holidays (see fixtures list for dates). Total weekly squad time will be 11hours.
